Melissa Stendahl, PT, DPT has joined Liv Labs to lead Services Strategy. Dr. Stendahl brings technical expertise in pelvic health and wellness as well as general experience in management and clinical practice. She earned her BS in Biological Sciences from Clemson University and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy (PT) from Texas State University. She served for over 11 years as an officer in the United States Air Force before transitioning to the civilian healthcare industry.
Dr. Stendahl initially practiced orthopedics and sports rehabilitation in Colorado, where she soon identified a lack of resources for people suffering from pelvic issues. She became passionate about helping to change this, and trained in pelvic and obstetric PT with the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute and the American Physical Therapy Association before moving to New York. Dr. Stendahl treated and trained extensively in pelvic rehab at Beyond Basics Physical Therapy in Manhattan, and went on to establish herself in private practice, first in Brooklyn and then in San Antonio.
At Liv Labs, Dr. Stendahl will lead the development of practical, easy-to-use tools for the prevention and rehabilitation of pelvic floor dysfunction. In her typically direct style, Dr. Stendahl says simply: “I am absolutely thrilled to join team Liv Labs! Incontinence and other pelvic health issues are commonplace, yet information and care is not. People’s health and quality of life is suffering unnecessarily. It is my honor to join Liv Labs in a mission to provide accessible pelvic health resources to as many people as possible.”
Cofounder and CEO, Melody Roberts, adds, “Dr. Stendahl has hit the ground running, developing content, influencing strategy, and digging into product development like a seasoned R&D professional. We look forward to delivering, at scale, the kind of treatment she provides to her patients one-on-one.”
Liv Labs is a Chicago-based startup with Silicon Valley roots.
